The Most Basic form of magic is the magic that does absolutely nothing. In Alchemy, this magic is always taught both first and last, so that pupils may get a sense of the more advanced forms. It should be noted, however, that there is a difference between, for example, a Nothingness Bolt, and a Nothing Bolt: The Nothingness Bolt is a Non-Entity Spell with no effect on things of this world, whereas the Nothing Bolt is a Nihilist Spell which annihilates it's chosen target. Nothing Spells are never taught in schools, and it is nigh impossible to convince a proficient to reveal such knowledge.
